Babri masjid demolition anniversary: Security stepped up in TN
Chennai, Dec 5 (PTI) Ahead of the Babri mosque
demolition anniversary Sunday, police has stepped up security
across India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, senior officials
said.
Security has been stepped up in all districts of the
state, including coastal areas, police officials said.
"There is no specific alert. There is only a general
alert and we have stepped up security all over the state,"
they said.
Increased patrolling and intensified checking in
lodges are part of the vigil, while presence of security
personnel in places like airports, railway stations and bus
stands has been strengthened, they said, adding vital
installations have been given enhanced security cover.
The state police was coordinating with the railways on
the security, they added.
Police in western city of Ahmedabad are on high alert
and have taken extensive security measures following
intelligence reports stating that terrorist may target the
city on December 6, which marks the 17th anniversary of Babri
Masjid demolition.
The Government had a week ago tabled the Action Taken
Report on Liberhan Commission 1000-page report which went into
the demolition of Babri masjid on December 6, 1992. PTI SA
