Maha CM disapproves of 'Kasab most safe' comment

Mumbai, Dec 5 (PTI) Chief Minister of Maharashtra
(India's western state) Ashok Chavan Saturday disapproved of
comments on megastar Amitabh Bachchan's blog that the lone
surviving terrorist of 26/11 attacks, Amir Ajmal Kasab, is the
"safest person" in the country.

"It is sad that celebrities feel so. We are protecting
Kasab as he is a key evidence in the 26/11 case," Chavan said
at a function of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA),
the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
-recognised body of journalists, here.
Bachchan recently posted on his blog a comment he got,
that "A year after 26/11, the safest person in the country is,
ironically ... Kasab."
"It is the responsibility of the Government to ensure
Kasab, who is an accused in the 26/11 case, is protected as
he is a crucial evidence. It is sad that some celebrities feel
otherwise," Chavan said, without naming Bachchan.
"It is not that only Kasab is safe and other people
are not safe," Chavan said.
Chavan's comment comes amid media reports that
Maharashtra Government has so far spent Rs 31 crore to protect
Kasab. PTI VT
