Woman from Rajasthan dies of swine flu in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Dec 5 (PTI) A 36-year-old woman from
Sanchor in India's northern state of Rajasthan has died of
swine flu in Ahmedabad civil hospital, health officials said
Saturday.
According to the officials, Padmaben Purohit was
brought to Ahmedabad civil hospital in a critical condition
Friday at around 1.15 PM (IST) and was immediately put on
ventilator.
"She was brought in a critical condition at the
hospital and was immediately put on ventilator. She died
around 10.30 pm," a health department official added.
The deadly virus has so far claimed 47 lives in the
western state of Gujarat, which does not include Padmaben's
death as she was brought from Rajasthan, the officials said.
Till Thursday, samples from 89,362 people have been
tested for swine flu in government laboratories and a few
private laboratories across India and 21.1 per cent of them
have been found positive for the virus. PTI MPL
