Separatists killed, injured 89 people in Dalei governorate in 2009
DALEI, Dec. 06 (Saba) - Local report has showed that about 89 people were killed and injured by separatists and saboteurs of the southern movement in Dalei governorate so far in 2009, the GPC-run almotamar website said on Sunday.
The report indicated that the outlaw separatists have claiming the lives of 11
citizens and injured 38 others in addition nearly 40 soldiers have been killed and
injured
up to now in 2009 due to sabotage acts committed by these outlaws.
The report was read during a meeting held on Saturday in the governorate attended
local figures and personalities.
The meeting affirmed the significance of mobilizing efforts of all national, social
and security bodies to encounter such criminals and put an end to the sabotage acts
that
target the stability and the security of the governorate and its citizens.
Violent anti-government protests have engulfed cities in Yemen's southern provinces
in recent months, leaving dozens of casualties among protesters and security
forces.
North and South Yemen were united in 1990.
In 1994, southern leaders announced the secession of the south and battled northern
forces for 10 weeks in a civil war that ended in their defeat.
