GOVT TENDS TO ACTIVATE INTERNATIONAL NGOS' ROLE IN YEMEN

SANA'A,Dec.07(Saba) - Deputy Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Hisham Sharaf affirmed on Monday the government's
keenness to develop activities of all international Non-Governmental
Organizations (NGOs) working in Yemen.

This came within the third five-year plan and the government's ten
priorities to be put into affect during the next two years, Sharaf
added.

In a meeting with the mission of Oxfam International headed by
Oxfam's International Director Penny Lawrence, Sharaf noted the need
to activate the role of the international NGOs to assist and support
development efforts in Yemen.

Sharaf discussed with the Oxfam mission a number of issues relating
to enhancing the bilateral cooperation between Yemen and the
organization, confirming Yemen's interest in strengthening frames of
the current and future cooperation with the organization.

The two sides agreed upon enhancing and activating cooperation
between Yemen and the organization in regards to mobilizing the
necessary resources to implement the organization's programs in
Yemen.
