LS Cable to hire more white-collar foreign workers

SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Yonhap) -- LS Cable Ltd., South Korea's biggest wire and cable maker, plans to hire more white-collar foreign workers so that they make up 10 percent of staff by 2012 in an effort to raise its global competitiveness, the company said Monday.

About 30 foreigners currently work at the company's research and development,
sales and planning divisions, representing roughly 2 percent of its white-collar
workforce, LS Cable said.
The company plans to hire more than 30 foreign nationals annually starting next
year.
"By recruiting more foreigners, we expect to strengthen our company's global
competitiveness and workers' understanding of foreign cultures," LS Cable chief
Son Jong-ho said.
LS Cable has 60 subsidiaries or representative offices in 23 countries worldwide.
