Transport Minister Inaugurates Workshop on Underground Facilities and Meeting

Riyadh, December 08, 2009, SPA -- Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Minister of Transport Dr. Jubara
bin Eid Al-Suraiseri inaugurated here today a workshop entitled "Underground
Facilities in Hot Climate Circumstances'' as well as the regional meeting of
International Road Federation organized by the Ministry of Transport in cooperation
with International Tunneling Association.


In his speech, Dr. Al-Suraiseri said that the proposals to be presented during the
regional meeting, deliberations and discussions, will provide an opportunity for
exchanging information and scientific and technical expertise on the topics of the
workshop and the meeting.


In implementation of the directives of the King, the Crown Prince and the Second
Deputy Premier, Dr. Al-Suraiseri said the government has given great importance to
transport sector as one of the most important elements of development, indicating
that the ministry has executed a road network of more than 53,000 Km long according
to international standards.
