STX Group may win US$10 bln deal to build residences in Ghana

(ATTN: ADDS more details in 4-5 paras)
SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Yonhap) -- STX Group is seeking to win a US$10 billion deal to
build 200,000 residences in Ghana, industry sources said Tuesday.

According to the sources, the group plans to build the houses in 10 cities in the
African country. "It is true that we are seeking to launch the project," said an
official at STX Corp., the group's de facto holding firm. "Details will be
announced this week."
The sources said the South Korean group is planning to complete the project by 2014.
The Ghana government will provide free land for STX, and the group will finance
the project, according to the sources.
Given the size of the residence construction project, a number of South Korean
builders may join, they said.
South Korea is seeking to win more construction deals from sub-Saharan Africa,
which accounted for 2.4 percent of all orders by value as of the end of November.
