AMLC organizes workshop on anti-money laundering
SANA'A, Dec. 08 (Saba)-The Anti-Money Laundering Committee (AMLC) organized on Tuesday a workshop on international legal framework
of combating money laundering and terror funding.
The two-day workshop was organized in cooperation with the UN regional office of
combating crimes and drugs with participation of judges, members of prosecution and
international
experts.
In the opening session of the workshop, efforts of Yemen in combating money
laundering and terror funding were discussed.
The head of the technical sub -committee of combating money laundering and terror
funding Ahmed Ghalib pointed to the negatives impacts of such crimes on economy and
society.
He said that Yemen issued several laws and set up institutions to combat such
crimes, saying that the workshop aims at improving the system of combating these
crimes.
Ghalib valued efforts of the UN office and American Justice Department to support
efforts of Yemen in this regard.
In speech of the UN office, Judge Ehab al Manbori reviewed activities and efforts
of the United Nations in domain of combating these cross-border crimes.
He said that such workshop reflected concern of Yemen with international efforts to
combat these crimes.
