U.S. envoy leaves North Korea: KCNA
(ATTN: RECASTS headline, lead; UPDATES throughout with envoy's reported comments,
background)
SEOUL, Dept. 20 (Yonhap) -- Stephen Bosworth, U.S. special envoy on North Korea,
left Pyongyang Thursday, reportedly saying he had "very useful" talks with North
Korean officials during his three-day stay.
Bosworth and his entourage left the North for South Korea by air, according to
the Korean Central News Agency. It gave no further information.
China's official Xinhua news agency quoted Bosworth as saying shortly before
departure: "It's a very useful meeting."
Diplomatic sources here said the U.S. plane carrying Bosworth left Pyonyang's
Sunan Airport at around 11:20 a.m. and was expected to arrive at a U.S. air base
south of Seoul about an hour later.
Bosworth plans to brief South Korean government officials on the results of his
trip and then hold a press conference in Seoul, the U.S. embassy said.
His trip to the North was aimed at prodding North Korea to return to six-nation
nuclear talks.
