N. Korea only country to have set off nuclear blast in past decade: report

SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Yonhap) -- North Korea is believed to be the world's only country
that has detonated a nuclear device in the past decade, according to a Swedish
think tank.

The North conducted its first-ever atomic test in October 2006 and its second one
in May this year. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said in a
report released on its Web site that the tests marked the first explosions since
Pakistan and India had each set off a pair of nuclear blasts in 1998.
SIPRI is Sweden's state-funded institute that regularly provides information on
international arms activities. According to its estimated number of nuclear
explosions since 1945, there has been a total of 2054 nuclear explosions,
including tests, around the world.
