DPD SENDS DELEGATION TO COPENHAGEN CLIMATE CHANGE MEET
Jakarta, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - The Regional Representatives Council (DPD) will send its two members to the UN climate change talks in Copenhagen and hopes the conference will produce a strong commitment to anticipate the impact of climate change.
The two DPD members are chief of the council's inter-institutional relations committee Hamdhani and head of the council's committee II Bambang Susilo.
Indonesia which hosted the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2007 must encourage the Copenhagen conference to reach an agreement and prepare solution to any problem, Hamdhani said on Friday.
He expressed hope the Indonesian delegation to the meeting will not only speak of discourse but also help the world achieve the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2020.
The Indonesian delegation must be able to bridge differences between developed nations and developing countries during the meeting, he said.
