COCOM begins recce Monday
New Delhi, Dec 13 (PTI) The organisers of the 2010 Games
would be on their toes over the next three days as the
Coordination Commission (COCOM) of the Commonwealth Games
Federation (CGF) begins its two-day recce of the capital's
preparation for the multi-discipline event.
The CGF Coordination Commission (COCOM) has been quite
critical of the capital's preparation and the bad blood
between the Organising Committee (OC) and CGF chief executive
Mike Hooper has not helped the cause.
COCOM chairman Austin Sealy is already in the capital,
taking stock of the preparation. He has already visited the
Games village and the Indira Gandhi Stadium besides some of
the other venues.
Apart from Sealy, who is from Barbados, Bruce Robertson
(Canada), Sharad Rao (Kenya), Perry Crosswhite (Australia),
Gideon Sam (South Africa) and Chris Jenkins (Wales), the COCOM
also includes Hooper, who seems to have buried his hatchet
with the OC and is ready to work in tandem.
OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi had earlier described Hooper
as an "impediment" to the preparation. PTI
