MAN SUSPECTED OF MURDERING HIS OWN SON
Jakarta, Dec 14 (ANTARA) - A meatball vendor is suspected of murdering his 11-year-old son, Heri, at their home in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, after the boy was found dead hanging from his two- storey bed at 10.00 am on Monday.
Heri's father and uncle still tried to take him to Gatot Subroto Hospital but the boy died on the way.
The police suspected that the 44-year-old father, Abi Muklas, had hung his son deliberately from the bed and have taken him into custody for further investigation.
According to an eye-witness, Sued, Abi Muklas who usually came home at 06.00 pm after selling meatballs in the compound of his son's school, on Monday returned to the house early, at 09.00 am.
"About an hour after he had come home, Abi came out of the house running while carrying Heri who had his mouth stuffed with fabrics and both feet and hands tied, to a nearby clinic," he said.
Sued said that Abi and Heri's uncle, Amin, then carried the victim's body using their neighbor's Bajaj (a three-wheeled vehicle) to the clinic but they were referred to the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.
Meanwhile, another eyewitness, Sani, who lived next to Amin, said he saw Abi lowering his son with fabrics stuffed in his mouth and his hands and legs tied from the bed.
Sani said that after Abi left the house, his wife Evi and their five-year-old daughter, Intan, also took off and left Heri alone in the house.
The police are still conducting an investigation into the case and Kemayoran police precinct chief Commissioner Suparman said there were strong indications the victim was hung by an "insider."
