ARRIVALS OF ASEAN TOURISTS IN BALI INCREASINGLY STABLE

Denpasar, Bali, Dec 15 (ANTARA) - The flow of ASEAN tourists to Bali has become increasingly stable after security officers cracked down on the perpetrators of last July's terrorist attacks on two Jakarta top hotels, an observer said.

Malaysian tourists have also started coming to Bali again after it happened to slow down following the emergence of the pendet dance row some time ago, Bali tourism observer Tjok Gde Agung said here on Tuesday.

The number of tourists from Thailand has also increased drastically after the increasingly conducive security condition in Bali, he said.

In October for example, the number of ASEAN tourist arrivals in Bali reached 16,455 which drastically increased from 14,429 tourists visiting the tourist resort island in the previous month. Thus, the total number of ASEAN tourists arriving in Bali reached 183,497.

The figure of ASEAN tourist arrivals in Bali contributed 9.74 percent of the 1.8 million foreign tourists arriving in the province in the January - October 2009 period, he said.
