Kyrgyz storyteller fascinated by Persian epic tales

TEHRAN, Dec. 15 (MNA) -- A storyteller from Kyrgyzstan participating in a festival here says he is fascinated by Persian epic stories and would like to relate them to children in his homeland.

Nazarku Rahmanov, who is attending the 13th International Storytelling Festival underway in Tehran, expressed hope that storytellers in his country would make more use of the experience of Iranians.

“I began telling stories when I was 10 but I chose it as my profession at age 18 when I was selected first place at a domestic festival in Bishkek,” he told MNA.

“I established a school named ‘Manas’ for children above 10 in which choreography, poetry and whatever is related to storytelling is taught,”

Rahmanov is also convinced that the festival in Tehran is the best place for storytellers from different countries to get a chance to meet and exchange views.

He expressed hope that he would be able to attend future editions of the festival in the coming years.

The festival opened Sunday at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) and will come to an end on Wednesday.
