GCC Inter-Connection Grid to ensure an Energy Strategic Reserve: Kuwaiti Deputy Premier

KUWAIT, December 14, SPA -- Kuwait's Deputy Premier, Minister of State for
Development and Minister of State for Housing Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah
Monday underlined importance of the GCC Inter-Connection Grid project that would
contribute to achieving an Energy Strategic Reserve.


This project will be one of the vital clean energy resources for the countries of
the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and will have huge economic benefits as well as
contribute to achieving an Energy Strategic Reserve because it depends on the of
exchange of electricity among the six GCC countries, Sheikh Ahmad told KUNA
following the official launch of the electricity linkage venture.


This project, he added, would help fill any shortage in electricity supply under
any circumstances, citing successful tests.


Sheikh Ahmad said the project would be linked with Arab power linkage ventures in
future, he said.
