Seoul shares open slightly higher on foreign buying

SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started slightly higher Wednesday
as foreign and institutional investors scooped up local shares, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 0.99 points, or
0.06 percent, to 1,666.84 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Foreign investors picked up tech and steel shares, while institutional investors
bought retail shares.
The local currency was trading at 1,165.45 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 3.95 won from Tuesday's close.
