S. Korean unemployment rises slowest among OECD countries

SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's jobless rate rose at the slowest pace
among the world's major economies, a report showed Wednesday.

The country's jobless rate rose 0.3 percentage point in October from a year
earlier, according to the report by the Paris-based Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The on-year rise in the unemployment rate is the smallest among the OECD member
countries and much smaller than the OECD average of an 8.8 percentage point rise.
South Korea's statistical office earlier said that the nation's October jobless
rate stood at 3.4 percent,
Germany came next with its jobless rate rising by 0.4 percentage point, trailed
by Austria with 0.7 percentage point.
