REBEL LEADER KILLED, HOUTHIS WOUNDED IN JAWF

JAWF, Dec. 16 (Saba) - A rebel leader has been killed and other
Houthi followers injured in Jawf province, northeast Sana'a, the
ministry of Interior has said.

The killing of Ahmed Hamoud al-Qatwani, 33, and the injuries were
coordinated by security forces and tribesmen who fired at the car
that was driven by al-Qatwani.

Earlier four rebel leaders handed themselves in to Jawf local
officials, amid surrendering by Houthi followers during the fresh
confrontations with the army.

So far in December, Tens of misled people, who supported the Houthi
rebels, gave up in Saada province and Harf Sufyan in neighboring
Amran city.

The Houthi strength and resources were fading as well, with the
insurgents being confused as the troops were advancing on them at
many war fronts, the army said.

Meanwhile, the army continued to take rebel strongholds, destroy
hideouts and cars with weapons and foil rebel attempts of
infiltration.

More recent battlegrounds where fierce fresh confrontations erupted
between the troops and the rebels included Old Saada, Matara,
Malaheedh and Menzala and Gara'eb in Saada and some mountains at the
Harf Sufyan district in neighboring Amran province.
