S. Korean named rookie of the year in Japan golf tour

SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korean golfer Song Bo-bae was named rookie of
the year by the Japan LPGA, the country's golf governing body said Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who ranked seventh in the 2009 official money list of the
Japanese women's golf tour with 70 million yen (US$782,000), won the Mizuno
Classic last month co-organized by the U.S. LPGA and the JLPGA.
Song became the fifth South Korean female golfer to grab the JLPGA rookie of the
year title. Han Hee-won claimed the title in 1998 and also won the U.S. LPGA
rookie of the year honor in 2001.
