India would want access to Headley, Rana: FS
New Delhi, Dec 16 (PTI) India would want access to
terror suspects David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain
Rana as the details coming out of the investigations in the
cases involving them is causing "serious concerns" to the
country, Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said Wednesday.
Asserting that the country "attaches the highest
importance to unraveling of the conspiracy" involving Headley,
the Foreign Secretary said "obviously at some stage we would
want to have access. We are not denying that."
She was replying if the country would be satisfied
only with access to the information coming out of the
investigations by FBI and will be limited to documents only or
India would want to have access to Headley and Rana.
Rao said she also wants to emphasize that India was
very happy with the cooperation of the US authorities and
agencies investigating the matter.
"What the US government has told us is that at all
levels they will cooperate with us," she said adding agencies
of both the countries were in close touch with each other in
the ongoing investigations.
She said the case was very sensitive and obviously the
details coming out of the investigations was a "cause of
serious concerns" as these two individual were engaged in the
activities detrimental to national security and interests of
the country.
"We attach the highest importance to the unraveling of
this conspiracy properly to completion of this investigation
and obviously for us to have full access to the information of
the investigations....", Rao said. PTI PYK
