BEI INDEX CLOSES 9.29 POINTS HIGHER

Jakarta, Dec. 17 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) here on Thursday noon closed higher.

The Indonesian stocks went up 9.29 points or 0.37 percent to the level of 2,531.84 points.

The BEI transactions were dominated by 78 stocks that advanced, k 86 that lost and 69 that remained static. The trade volume reached 1.871 billion shares from 49,625 transactions worth Rp1.645 trillion.

At Asian bourses, the Hang Seng index weakened 197.24 points or 0.91 percent to 21.414,50, the Nikkei-225 index rose 32.30 points or 0.32 percent to 10.209,71, and the Straits Times index increased 0.65 points or 0.02 percent to 2.814,56.
