PPATK CHIEF MUM ABOUT BOEDIONO'S DOLLAR ACCOUNT AT BANK CIC
Jakarta, Dec 17 (ANTARA) - Financial Transactions Analysis and Reporting Center (PPATK) Chairman Yunus Hasan was on Thursday asked about 24 million US dollars in the finance minister's account at defunct Bank CIC in 2002-2004 but he declined to answer.
In the 2002-2004 period Indonesia's finance minister was Boediono who later became Bank Indonesia or central bank governor and eventually the vice president, while Bank CIC was one of the three private banks that were merged into problematic Bank Century.
"I cannot give an accurate answer to the question because I don't have the authority to do so. I suggest the question be put directly to the state official involved, " Yunus said at a consultative meeting with the House's Bank Century Inquiry Committee here Thursday.
Noting that the committee was planning to invite Boediono for a hearing on the Bank Century case , he said the question about the dollar account at Bank CIC could be posed to the former finance minister himself.
The question about the finance minister's dollar account at Bank CIC was raised by House Bank Century Inquiry Committee member Akbar Faisal of the People's Conscience (Hanura) Party faction.
Yunus said he could not answer the question because he was afraid he would make a mistake, if he did. "Besides, at the time the dollar account existed, the PPATK had yet to be formed," he said.
Akbar said he had asked about finance minister's dollar account at Bank CIC because it was related to the Bank Century case.
