Saleh gets telephone call from U.S. President Barrack Obama

SANA'A, Dec. 17 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Thursday a telephone call from U.S. President Barrack Obama.

The two leaders discussed the bilateral relationship and mutual
cooperation on all fronts. Congratulating Saleh upon the new Hijri Year, Obama
praised Yemen's
efforts in the fight on terrorism, particularly, Thursday's raids in which dozens of
al Qaeda suspects were killed and arrested. We congratulate Yemen on the successful
terror
raids that came to show Yemen's determination to face the threat of Osama's Bin
Laden Global Terrorist Network of al Qaeda, he said. The U.S. will continue to
support Yemen
logistically and in the developmental, political and security areas, Obama assured
Saleh. "We assure Yemen that the U.S. is committed to boost mutual cooperation with
it
and urge donors to provide more support to the country to face all challenges." The
U.S. is well aware about Yemen's concern about the north-based insurgency and
reiterates
its full support for Yemen's unity and stability, he said. President Saleh, for his
part, thanked his U.S. counterpart on his country's efforts supporting the
development
and stability in Yemen, hailing the level of mutual cooperation between the two
friend states. He also affirmed Yemen will continue to fight terrorists and those
trying to
destabilize the country in the best of its own and in the best of the whole region
and the world. FR
