Daewoo Shipbuilding wins deals worth $1.6 bln
SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the
world's third-largest shipbuilder, said Friday that it has won deals to build
three vessels valued at a combined US$1.6 billion.
One of the deals with an American firm calls on Daewoo Shipbuilding to deliver
two drill ships by March 2012, the company said in a statement.
Another American company placed an order with Daewoo Shipbuilding to build a
semi-submersible ship by the end of 2011, it said.
On Thursday, Daewoo Shipbuilding said it also won a $300 million order from
Italy's Messina to build four vessels that can carry containers or vehicles.
The deals bring this year's total orders for Daewoo Shipbuilding to $3.1 billion.
