Hatoyama invites Chinese Premier Wen to Japan, Pres. Hu to 2010 APEC+

COPENHAGEN, Dec. 18 Kyodo -
Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Thursday invited Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao to visit Japan at an early date and Chinese President Hu Jintao to
attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum to be held in Yokohama next
November.
Hatoyama extended the invitations when he met Wen on the sidelines of the 15th
Conference of Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, which
started in Copenhagen earlier this month.
Hatoyama told Wen that he expects the two countries to deepen mutual
understanding and relations of trust between their peoples through such
high-level exchanges as the recent visit to Japan by Chinese Vice President Xi
Jinping, according to Japanese government officials.
Wen responded that the success of Xi's official visit to Japan is a reflection
of the prime minister's efforts, the officials said.
The Chinese premier also said during the 40-minute talks that the two countries
should continue such high-level contacts, adding that doing so would benefit
their peoples, according to the officials.
