BI PREDICTS ECONOMIC GROWTH AT 5.5 PERCENT IN 2010

Makassar, Dec 18 (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) predicted Indonesia's economic growth at 5 - 5.5 percent next year.

"In 2010, BI predicted the economic growth at 5 - 5.5 percent," head of the Makassar BI Monetary Policy Office Sugeng said here Friday.

He said that according to next year's banking prospects, credits may grow by 15 - 20 percent, in line with an increase in confidence of economic players in the country's economic growth prospects.

Besides, he added, banking liquidity is also still adequate on aggregate basis for banking activities in funding the economy.

"The growth of third party funds may be the same with credit growth of 15 percent by end of 2010," he said.
