Measures to improve electricity sector next year, says minister

SANA'A, Dec. 19
(Saba)- Ministry of Electricity and Energy is working now to carry out several
measures to
raise capacities of electricity up to 450 MgW in coming year by adopting other
alternatives to generate electricity such as use of gas in order to face shortage in
power.
Minister of Electricity and Energy Awad al-Socatri told Saba that Higher Committee
for Tenders approved certain measures related to projects of electricity like
purchasing
power.
He said that the ministry would look at the list of the qualified companies and
invite them to present their offers related to a tender of purchasing 222 MgW in
Mareb province
by using gas.
The minister added that the ministry would purchase electricity for Aden, Hodeidah
and Hadramout in order to meet local need of power in these regions.
