26/11 trial: Sabauddin says Headley had interrogated him
Mumbai, Dec 19 (PTI) One of the accused in 26/11 terror
attack case, Sabauddin Ahmed, has filed a complaint before a
magistrate here alleging that David Headley was one of the
officers who had interrogated and threatened him.
"Headley was one of the foreign officials who had
interrogated Sabauddin soon after his arrest in the 26/11
case. Headley had tried to forcefully record his confessional
statement," the complaint alleges.
"The magistrate has directed for Sabauddin to be
produced before him on February 2, 2010 for recording his
statement," his lawyer Ejaz Naqvi told PTI.
Reacting to the development, special public prosecutor
Ujjwal Nikam termed the move as an attempt to delay the trial.
"There is absolutely no such evidence. This is a
deliberate attempt by Naqvi and the accused to prolong the
trial," Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told PTI.
Along with Paksitani gunman Ajmal Kasab, two Indians
Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed have also been charged for
conspiracy and their involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.
Faheem and Sabahuddin have been accused of preparing maps of
the terror sites.
The defence lawyer would, however, have to first submit
a copy of the complaint and the magistrate's order before
special 26/11 trial Judge M L Tahaliyani and obtain a
cognizance order from him. MORE PTI SP
