Former Samsung Group chairman's daughter given advertising Job

By Lee Youkyung

SEOUL, DEC. 20 (Yonhap) -- Cheil Worldwide Inc., South Korea's largest advertising and marketing agency, said Sunday that it has hired a daughter of former Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee to improve its global performance.

An official at Cheil Worldwide said Lee Seo-hyun, 36, was appointed the company's
senior vice president in charge of strategy and planning. She will continue to
hold her current post at Cheil Industries Inc., the Samsung group's textile arm.
"She has brought successful negotiation skills with global luxury fashion houses,
which is valuable for us as we try to seek further growth from recently acquired
global agencies," said the company's spokeswoman, Lee Jeong-eun.
A unit of the country's biggest business conglomerate Samsung group, Cheil
Worldwide acquired a Boston-based digital ad firm Barbarian Group earlier in
December, following its purchase of London-based ad agency Beattie McGuinness
Bungay (BMB) in 2008.
Lee, a graduate of Parsons, the New School's design college in New York city, was
promoted to senior vice president of Cheil Industries as part of the Samsung
group's sweeping reshuffle last week.
