Seoul shares open 0.36 pct lower on institutional sell-offs

SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started lower Monday on selling by institutional investors, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 5.95 points, or 0.36
percent, to 1,641.09 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Tech and auto issues lost ground with market bellwether Samsung Electronics off
0.39 percent and Hyundai Motor down 1.35 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,178.90 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 2.70 won from Friday's close.
