GOVT TO PUBLISH 2010-2025 GAS BALANCE SHEET

Jakarta, Dec 21 (ANTARA) - The government aims to publish in January 2010 a gas balance sheet which maps out domestic gas supply and demand between 2010 and 2025, an Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry official said.

The 2010-2025 gas balance sheet also covered coal bed methane (CBM) potentials, the ministry's director general of oil and gas, Evita Legowo, said in a press statement on Monday.

"The gas balance sheet is the updated version of the 2009-2020 one," she said.

She said the gas supplies put in the balance sheet were gas reserves that had been commercially ready or could be developed.

The gas needs covered domestic demands from the industrial sector, including fertilizer companies, power plants, and exports, she said.

The balance sheet also had considered additional gas supplies from new fields, and production from new gas contracts, she said.

"In addition, it also covers a plan for the construction of natural liquefied gas (LNG) terminals in North Sumatra and West Java," she said.

The 2010-2025 gas balance sheet is divided into 12 administrative areas, namely Aceh, northern Sumatra, southern Sumatra, central Sumatra, Riau Islands, western Java, central Java, eastern Java, eastern Kalimantan, southern Sulawesi, central Sulawesi, Papua, and southern Maluku.
