Modetour aims for 46.7 pct sales jump in 2010
SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) -- Modetour Network Inc., South Korea's second-largest
travel agency, said Monday it expects sales to grow by 46.7 percent next year on
a stabilizing local currency and growing number of Chinese tourists.
Modetour hopes to generate sales of 89 billion won (US$75.5 million) and post an
operating profit of 10.5 billion won next year, up more than six-fold from this
year's estimate, the company said in a statement.
Hong Ki-jeong, chief executive of Modetour, said sales would jump next year as
foreign exchange rates stabilize and South Korea and China move closer toward a
visa waiver program.
In 2010, Modetour aims to send about 620,000 tourists overseas, up 50.1 percent
from this year's estimate, according to the statement.
Modetour trails Hana Tour Service Inc. in the nation's travel agency market.
