PREPARATORY COMMITTEE OF NATIONAL DIALOG HOLDS ITS 1ST MEETING

SANA'A, Dec.21 (Saba) - The preparatory committee of the national
dialog formed by the Shoura Council held on Monday its first
meeting, chaired by the council's Speaker and Head of the committee
Abdul Aziz Abdul-Ghani.

In the meeting, Abdul-Ghani affirmed the great importance of the
committee role in providing the appropriate environment to hold the
national dialog, expressing his confidence that the committee, which
represents a wide spectrum of the social forces, would perform its
mission so as to achieve the dialog goals.

The committee reviewed its agenda and discussed the steps to be
taken according to the reference frame included in the President's
letter including his call for all political and social forces to a
serious and responsible dialog on the country issues under the
supervision of the Shoura Council and under the constitutional
legitimacy.

Meanwhile, the committee approved the form of the council's call to
be addressed to the parts involved in the presidential call for the
national dialog, stressing the right of all parts to put forward
what they see as issues for discussion under the full partnership to
ensure the success of the dialog and achieve its noble objectives.

The committee is to continue its meetings on Tuesday.

Last Monday, President Ali Abdullah Saleh sent a letter to the
Shoura Council over launching a national dialog on December 26 that
should gather all political and social forces under the umbrella of
the council.
