SKC to spend 60 bln won on plant expansion by 2011
(ATTN: RECASTS lead)
By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) -- SKC Ltd., a South Korean industrial film maker, said
Monday that it will invest 60 billion won (US$51 million) to add one more optical
polyester film production line by 2011.
The investment, which calls for the company to increase the number of the
production lines to four, aims to meet growing demand for optical polyester film
and secure stable revenue sources, SKC said in a regulatory filing.
Optical polyester film is a basic material used in liquid crystal display (LCD)
diffusion walls, sheets in LCD prisms and other display devices.
In a separate statement, SKC said it plans to build another such production line
by 2012.
The expansion of production lines, if completed, is expected to bring SKC's
annual production capacity of polyester film to 140,000 tons from the current
100,000 tons, the company said.
