Goa blast case: NIA team expected in Goa
Panaji, Dec 21 (PTI) National Investigation Agency (NIA)
officers are yet to arrive in India's coastal state of Goa to
physically take over the documents related to the Margao
blast, police said.
Goa police spokesman Atmaram Deshpande told PTI that a
NIA team was supposed to arrive Monday but has not intimated
about their plans.
"They might come at any time as they have already taken
over the case. Goa police have to just hand over the
investigation details," he said.
Deshpande said that the state police is yet to receive
any intimation about their arrival even as the Special
Investigation Team (SIT) has kept all the documents ready to
be handed over to them.
"There is no need of intimation too, they can come at any
time, may be today evening or tomorrow and take over the
records," he clarified.
NIA on December 16 had written to Goa court, intimating
it about taking over the Margao blast case from SIT. They also
informed that two different cases were registered related to
the blast and recovery of explosive substances from a village
near Vasco town on October 16.
The central investigating agency had formally taken over
the case on December 17.
The Indian Government had ordered the handing over the
probe into Margao blast from SIT to NIA, a federal agency
formed after 26/11 Mumbai attacks to probe terror-related
cases. (More) PTI RPS
