Nation's fiscal deficit down in Oct.

SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Yonhap) -- The nation's fiscal deficit declined in October from a
month earlier mainly due to an increase in government revenue, the finance
ministry said Tuesday.

According to the ministry, the cumulative fiscal deficit amounted to around 16.6
trillion won (US$14 billion) as of the end of October this year, down 9 trillion
won from September.
Cumulative revenue totaled 217.5 trillion won during the first 10 months, while
expenditures and net loans came to 234.1 trillion won, the ministry said.
The decline in the deficit comes after a steady slide deeper into the red over
the previous months, as the government frontloaded spending to help the economy
rebound.
The January-October fiscal deficit remains lower than the government's shortfall
projection of 22 trillion won for this year, according to the ministry.
