By Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Daelim Industrial Co. said Wednesday that it has signed a US$500 million preliminary deal to build a chemical plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

The deal awarded by the state-run Saudi Arabian Mining Co., also known as
Ma'aden, calls for Daelim Industrial to complete the plant by the second quarter
of 2011, the South Korean builder said in a statement.
In October, Daelim Industrial clinched a $325 million deal with Saudi Kayan
Petrochemical Co. to construct a chemical plant in Jubail, which is slated for
completion by Dec. 10, 2010.
The latest deal will bring Daelim Industrial's overseas orders clinched so far
this year to $2.7 billion, the company said.
Shares of Daelim Industrial fell 0.47 percent to close at 84,000 won on the Seoul
bourse.
