GNP lawmaker to be indicted soon: prosecution
SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- Prosecutors will soon indict Rep. Gong Sung-jin of the
ruling Grand National Party (GNP) for alleged bribery, prosecution sources said
Thursday.
According to the sources at the Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office, prosecutors
plan to indict Gong on charges of receiving hundreds of thousands of won in
bribes from businessmen in exchange for favors. Rep. Gong strongly denies the
charges.
Prosecutors earlier summoned the lawmaker to question whether he received bribes
from Kong Kyung-sik, an owner of a golf club in Gyeonggi Province, in exchange
for helping him to obtain construction permits.
Kong has already been indicted on charges of creating a slush fund by
manipulating accounting books and giving money to senior government officials and
politicians as bribes for the permits.
