DEAD VICTIM'S RELATIVES DEMAND COMPENSATION
Pati, Dec 24 (ANTARA) - The relatives of Alfa Nurul Fikri (20), one of the dead victims of the collapsed Metro Tanah Abang Shopping Center, in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, had demanded an appropriate compensation from whoever was responsible for the mishap.
"Actually, we already have received Rp 5 million in some kind of compensation, and some other financial help like the cost of ambulance transportation to the victim's hometown in Pati, Central Java. But a more appropriate compensation must be given," spokesman for the victim's relatives Mashuri said in Pati Thursday.
He said he will keep on demanding for an appropriate compensation of Alfa Nurul Fikri's untimely death.
He suspected that the building was still not strong enough to support a new attachment comprising several public toilets, which eventually caused the collapse.
Before the building collapsed, several workers said they already noticed that the walls on which the toilets were attached already had some cracks. "But it has not been reported to the builders immediatley," Mashuri, who is also Alfa's uncle, said.
