S. Korea, UAE seek to expand military cooperation

SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korea has agreed to expand bilateral military
cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), military sources said Sunday.
"Defense Minister Kim Tae-young recently visited the UAE and has signed a
memorandum of understanding on comprehensive military exchanges with the
country," the source said. "The MOU includes the exchanges of the two countries'
defense industry technologies, cooperation on military training and support, and
the exchanges of high-ranking military officials."
During his two visits to the UAE, from Nov. 17-20 and Nov. 23-26, he met with a
range of high-ranking military officials, the source said.
"The MOU is an expansion of the military pact that was signed by South Korea and
UAE in 2006," another military official said.
