LG Display to invest US$30.5 mln in Taiwanese display maker

SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's LG Display Co. said Monday it has agreed
to invest US$30.5 million in a Taiwanese display maker, aiming to expand its
product portfolio.

The world's second largest maker of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) agreed Monday
to buy bonds worth $30.5 million, issued by Hydis Technologies Co., a unit of
Taiwan's Prime View International Co., which is the world's largest manufacturer
of electronic paper displays (EPDs), according to LG Display.
LG Display and Hydis also signed an agreement to share patents on display
devices, including those for EPDs, LG officials said.
The deal allows the two companies to purchase display panels from each other. LG
Display will provide consulting services on production technologies to Hydis.
