BEI INDEX OPENS HIGHER ON SELL-OFFS

Jakarta, Dec. 28 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) here on Monday morning opened higher on blue chip and small-cap share sell-offs.

The BEI index went up 20.23 points or 0.82 percent to 2,495.199 points and the LQ-45 index rose 4.536 points or 0.93 percent to 492.428 points.
Investors believed that it was the right time to buy shares as the prices were quite low, according to Alfiansyah, a foreign exchange analyst of PT Sinarmas Securities.

Among top gainers at the BEI morning trading session were those of Astra International, Gudang Garam and Bumi Resources.
