SANA'A,Dec.28 (Saba)-
World Health Organization (WHO)'s Regional Director for Middle East Region Dr.
Hussein al-Jazairi
pointed out on Monday that 17 per cent of the Yemeni school students have sings of
Bilharzias disease in a number of provinces.
However, Dr. al-Jazairai described Yemen's efforts in the fight against Bilharzias
as one of the great achievements in the health sector.
The Yemeni government has achieved tangible successes in its fight against Polio,
Leprosy and Measles diseases, he indicated.
"During the coming period Yemen will be announced free of measles disease", he
added calling on Yemeni citizens to vaccinate their children to protect them from
the deadly
diseases.
On another hand , the WHO's official praised the Yemen government's efforts and
care for the displaced people due to the insurgency war in Yemen's northern
province of Saada.
Speaking to Saba when leaving Sana'a, Dr. al-Jazairi said:" I have visited one of
the camps for displaced and I found a distinct care and all government's efforts
focus
on improving the displaced conditions …The camp is well-arranged and provided with
good health and food services".
