Yemen, WHO talk on cooperation in public health

SANA'A, Dec.28 (Saba)- Prime
Minister Ali Mujawar discussed here on Monday with the World Health Organization
(WHO)'s Regional
Director for Middle East Region ,Dr. Hussein al-Jazairi, cooperation relations
between Yemen and the organization in the public health field.
In the discussions, they focused on the aspects related to implementing the
national campaign to control Bilharzias in light of the successes achieved by Yemen
in the previous
vaccination campaigns.
The two side reviewed the possibility of expanding the integral basic services
project supported by WHO and based on the partnership with the local society ,that
is currently
under execution in a number of villages in Hajjah and Hodeidah provinces.
The premier noted the distinct relations between the two sides, valuing the WHO's
role in supporting Yemen's efforts aiming at eradicating the endemic diseases as
well as
its support to the other health areas.
For his part, Dr. al-Jazairi praised the great achievements Yemen has made in the
health sector, especially vaccination against the deadly diseases, affirming that
the governmental
investment in the public health field is one of the most important investments in
the human development field.
The WHO's Regional Director for Middle East Region Dr. Hussein al-Jazairi left
Sana'a late on Monday after a few-day official visit to Yemen, during which he
participated
in second anti-Bilharzias campaign in the country and visit some camps of displaced
people due to the war in Saada province.
