TENS OF MILITARY, POLICE PERSONNEL SECURE GUS DUR'S FUNERAL



Jombang, East Java, Dec 31 (ANTARA) - Tens of Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police personnel are securing the funeral ceremony for former president Abdurrahman Wahid here on Thursday in a family graveyard near the Islamic boarding School at Tebuireng, Jombang, district, East Java.

The security officers combed the funeral complex since Thursday morning. They had also conducted a rehearsal for the funeral ceremony led by Assistant Personnel Affairs from Brawijaya military division, Colonel Agus Yuniarto.

"The funeral ceremony will be started at 1.30 p.m," Irfan yusuf Hasyim, Wahid's family representative, said.

Wahid who is intimately called Gus Dur, would be buried next to his grandfather's (K.H Hasyim Asy'ari, the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, the biggest Moslem's organization in Indonesia) tomb.

Gus Dur died at Cipto Mangunkusumo at 6.45 pm on Wednesday of heart failure, kidney and diabetes, at 69.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to attend the funeral ceremony.
