'Dollar store' Daiso Asung logs 330 bln won in 2009 sales

SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) -- Daiso Asung Co., a South Korean joint venture with
Japanese "dollar store" Daiso Sangyo Co., chalked up 330 billion won (US$284.4
million) in sales this year, the company said Thursday.

This is 43 percent more than a year earlier, the company said, adding it has
registered an average of 40 percent sales growth over the last three years.
The low-end housewares retailer will increase the number of stores nationwide to
650 next year from 520, it said.
