ENVIRONMENT-HEALTH 2LST

The health study will be done on the basis of the
National Ambient Air Quality Standards-2009, which provides a
legal framework for control of air pollution and protection of
public health and any citizen can approach the court demanding
better air quality.

The national ambient air quality standards have been
revised after a gap of 15 years and do not distinguish
between industrial and residential areas.
"This is very important. So far we had a lower
standard in industrial areas as compared to residential areas.
Now standards will be uniform irrespective of whether it is
classified as industrial area or a residential area," Ramesh
said. PTI AJ
