QUAKE JOLTS BIAK

Bandarlampung, Dec 31 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted Biak town in Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua on Thursday.

The epicenter of the tremblor which struck at 01.26 p.m. was in the sea 166 km southeast of Biak at a depth of 23 km, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in a report.

It said the quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
